Island Living Series

This series was inspired by a trip to a sunny island — the warmth of the sun, the sand, the fishes, the water, and the breeze. I see the water moving as I dove into the wide ocean, swimming with fishes and only hearing my breathing. These tiny moments let me cherish what abundance we have on earth as a human being.

In this spread of work, I explored painting without paint through the Mishima technique, inlaying clay into clay to express these impressions in a lighthearted way. In other words, these are not painted with a brush, they're carved and filled. Every piece in this series serves to capture the significance of water, more so a vessel to hold coffee or tea.
