Relationship Plate Series - Take that Solo Vacation

When I was drawing this, I see these two girls. They don't know each other in the beginning. One thing they both like to do is to go on solo travels by themselves. Two souls from different backgrounds. Two separate upbringing. At times, the universe let us feel so alone we think that it's so so hard to find another being who likes doing what we do, therefore we embark on our own journey, until we met. 

It is important that we take action on what has been going in our minds, because we deserve it. and we wouldn't know which new doors that will open us to.

The Relationship Series emerged from my reflections on human connections — my relationships with others, and the many ways people enter, leave, and shape our lives. It is an exploration of the subtle dynamics between self and others, and the significance we hold in each other's stories.

While the people around us inevitably influence who we are and contribute to our growth, the journey always circles back to self-awareness. We do not live in isolation, yet we are ultimately responsible for our own well-being and the way we choose to navigate our lives.

Method: Each plate is formed freehand from scratch, with no molds involved in the making process. Then painted with underglaze and coated with transparent glaze before sending for firing.

Please note that all ceramic pieces are handmade by myself in Singapore. Some irregularities of form in every piece do not impact its usage. Note that each piece is fired at cone 10 (at least 1260°C) with lead-free glazes making our ceramic ware food-safe, dishwasher- and microwave-friendly.
