Relationship Plate Series - Sisterly Love

It's a privilege to have grown up with a sister. We share the rare opportunity of being siblings — fighting, loving, and sometimes competing over the smallest things. Born from the same mother, we may look alike, yet we are worlds apart in the way we think, feel, and move through life. 

As we grow into adulthood, spending time with each other is rare. but the comfort of having one another, knowing that she will be fighting for you no matter what, despite all differences, is a gift from God. So I painted this to say that we could just BE next to each other, still doing what we love individually, no more words needed.

The Relationship Series emerged from my reflections on human connections — my relationships with others, and the many ways people enter, leave, and shape our lives. It is an exploration of the subtle dynamics between self and others, and the significance we hold in each other's stories.

While the people around us inevitably influence who we are and contribute to our growth, the journey always circles back to self-awareness. We do not live in isolation, yet we are ultimately responsible for our own well-being and the way we choose to navigate our lives.

Firing: Electric
Method: Each plate is formed freehand from scratch, with no molds involved in the making process. Then painted with underglaze and coated with transparent glaze before sending for firing.

Please note that all ceramic pieces are handmade by myself in Singapore. Some irregularities of form in every piece do not impact its usage. Note that each piece is fired at cone 10 (at least 1260°C) with lead-free glazes making our ceramic ware food-safe, dishwasher- and microwave-friendly.
